Facebook users are floating a spoof of a San Francisco Bay Area map, perhaps meant as a joke, but it could be offensive to some Bay Area residents.
Some may consider the parody irreverent, but it can be insulting, according to local TV news stories.
The South Bay is “Mexico,” part of the Peninsula is “China” but much of the area along El Camino Real is “Car Office Dealer,” Oakland is “Oakland State Park”
It gets worse.
East Contra Costa is labelled “Child Molesters, White Trash, and Meth Labs” and “104° F,” while Vallejo gets “Gangs, Meth Labs and Truck Stops.”
San Francisco is divided into “Tourists, Asia, Hippies and Gay Town U.S.A.,” Richmond is labeled “More Oakland” and Berkeley gets the usual - “Tree Huggers, Vegans, Recycled Nuts and Asian Students.”
