More than 230 assistance programs in California can help home buyers overcome a top obstacle to home buying – the down payment.
But finding them can be a dilemma.
That’s why the California Association of Realtors (CAR) stepped in to help you tap into that resource with it’s new California Mortgage Resource Directory.
The interactive search tool identifies available mortgage down payment and assistance programs in your target real estate area to take some of the leg work out of searching through all the municipal, state and private resources.
“Millions of dollars go unused every year because home buyers are unaware of the various buyer assistance programs available to them,” said CAR President Don Faught.
The tool asks for:
• Property information – You’ll have to state if the property is in foreclosure, state the type of home (single-family; multi-family); estimate the sales price and provide the location.
• Household information – The tool asks how many people are in your household; if you currently own a home and your annual income.
• Special circumstances – Special programs are available for educators, firefighters, veterans and military personnel and people with disabilities, as well as those purchasing energy efficient homes.
Once you’ve completed the questionnaire, you’ll view programs for which you could be eligible.
